Brutal Day 8 but we Achieve
July 8, 2014John Robinson Named “Champion of Change”
October 10, 2014#USBLN14
Today I had the opportunity to join the future leaders Summit for four hours USBLN conference. In the neighborhood of 40 students with disabilities around the country coming together to talk about their dreams and hopes in regards to employment.
Also in the room, mentors from businesses as diverse as Northrop Grumman, NBC Comcast and yours truly at Our Ability Inc.
The best conversation talked about the transition from high school to college, college to employment and how difficult it really is. It continues to be a challenge. At that moment I was able to share how lucky these young students are to be sitting in a room with great companies. Many of us 20 years ago did not have that opportunity.
Please remember mentoring is important. The mentees in the room look to us as leaders. All of us who are mentors to young people with disabilities carry their dreams with us every day.
